Wire
We construct 3 basic
styles of wire fence. Horse, barbed/smooth wire, and wire mesh fences.
Horse fences
are constructed using 4-6 inch round posts as ends and smaller diameter posts or
metal t-posts throughout. Wood posts are set a minimum of 24 inches in concrete.
Heavy gauge non climb woven wire is then stretched. These fences are generally
4-5' tall and can have a high tensile wire run above the woven wire for added
strength and to add a “sight line” to the fence.
Barbed/smooth wire
is constructed using 4-6 inch round posts as anchors set 24 inches in concrete
also utilizing a cross railing or “H-post” for strength. T-posts are then set
10-20' apart depending on the fence design. Barbed or smooth wire is then
stretched at approximately 1 foot gaps. These fences range in height from 4-6
feet. For an extremely strong wire fence such as those that can be used for
horses or other large animals, high tensile wire can replace barb/smooth wire
and 4-6 inch round pressure treated posts would replace the t-posts.
Wire mesh fences
are constructed using 4-6 inch round pressure treated posts set 24 inches in
concrete as anchor posts. T-posts are set at any designated spacing and welded
wire is stretched and attached. These fences are generally 3-5 feet tall and are
great for small dog runs and gardens.
